Types of Ceremonies
In Italy are legally only two types of ceremonies: Civil ceremony and Catholic ceremony. A blessing, symbolic or a renewal of vows ceremony are however possible.
The Civil ceremony
Civil ceremonies or lay humanistic wedding must be conducted in Italian by the Mayor or Civil registrar and translated by an interpreter at the attendance of two witnesses.
In Sorrento you can get married in the Town Hall or in the 13th Century St Francesco Monastery Cloisters.

A civil ceremony is possible also in Villa Fondi in Piano di Sorrento, a little town close to Sorrento. In Villa Fondi you can get married in a lush garden overlooking the sea...
The catholic ceremony
The Catholic ceremony is the only religious ceremony recognised as legal as a civil one. For all other religious ceremonies, you will need to hold a civil ceremony first.
Catholic ceremonies must be performed only inside a Catholic church.
Blessing , Symbolic or renewal of vows ceremony
Blessing or Symbolic ceremonies in Italy don't have legal binding. This kind of ceremonies can be conducted also in outdoor location. You can personalized the ceremony with your own choice of vows or readings.
