Italian Traditions

Decorations and flowers are very important to setting the right atmosphere and the joyful for the wedding day. The typical decoration in Sorrento are the citrus fruits for they colours and perfume,  that Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast are rich. An other tradition is that the bride throws her bouquet to the women among the gusts not married yet, the one who catches the bouquet to marry within an year.
Traditional favours consist of sugared almonds, given in odd number, near the “bomboniera” as keepsakes.

The five things to not forget

A tradition of English derivation says that at the bride cannot miss five things:
- Something given as a symbol of the bond with your loved ones
- Something blue, as in the past, the bride's wedding dress was blue and it was a purity symbol
- One thing a gift as a symbol of the affection of people she loves
- Something Old, in memory of life before marriage
- A new thing, as a wish for the future

The Wedding feiths
The custom of bringing faiths on the left ring finger is a custom which dates back to the ancient Egyptians. This ancient people believed that from the ring-finger departed l a vein that came directly to the heart, and feelings flowed along this vein and then put the left ring finger rings meant to ensure loyalty.
In Roman times they exchanged rings of iron, whereas in the Middle Ages, faith was not widespread, and then when it was exchanged it was very valuable.

The wedding dress

It is only in the nineteenth century that brides started to wear white dresses as a purity symbol. In past times Roman women wore orange and yellow veils, while in the Middle Ages brides wore very bright colors clothes that were used also in the later party.

The wedding veil custom of dates back to the Roman time and it was not a modesty sign, but marriages were often celebrated for interest and the veil was used to cover the bride's face, hidden until the end the ceremony to avoid a second thought.
